Get Gardening!

1 point posted July 26, 2010

Have you ever planted your very own garden? You don’t need to live on a farm or even in the country. You can plant a garden and watch it grow right on your balcony or window-sill!

Do you know what ‘herbs’ are? They are those spices that your mom or dad puts into the spaghetti sauce to make it yummy. They have special flavors of their own that can add spicy flavor to soups, salads, sauces, stews, pasta and just about everything!

Here is all you need to plant your own herb garden:
A couple of planting pots or a trough.
Planting soil
Seeds- try parsley, dill, oregano, rosemary and thyme.
You need to place the seeds just under the soil and water it regularly to keep it moist but not soaked. Place the pots in a sunny area. If you can, add some vegetable plant ‘food’ that you can get at your local garden center.
Once the seeds mature into plants, trim them, wash them and use them to make your favourite tasty dishes!
And..for those of you who are too impatient to wait for the seeds to grow, buy the starter seedlings from your local garden center and provide them with sun and water. They will continue to grow even after you trim them if you teat them well!

HAPPY GARDENING!
